Things have changed since Dawn Robinson Now was a founding member of a popular singing trio that appeared on the 1990s pop soundtrack.
The former member of En Vogue, whose numerous successes include “My Lovin'” and “Hold On,” said in a video posted on her YouTube account on Tuesday that she is now living in her car due to financial difficulties.
When Robinson initially launched her channel, she stated she intended to share this knowledge, but several people advised her against it, saying, “You should’t talk about it because you’re a celebrity and what if they judge you?”
“I think, okay, but what if?” The vocalist went on. “What if they criticize me? What the heck? Everyone is judged. Life is life.
After taking a few deep breaths, she confessed.
She squealed after saying, “I have been living in my car for the past three, almost three years.” “I said it. God forbid, it’s out!
Robinson said that when she lived in Las Vegas with her parents in 2020, “that was wonderful until it wasn’t.” When her co-manager offered to let her stay with him in Los Angeles, she ended up spending a month living in her car.
“I don’t have a lot of room, but I’ll make room for you,” he added, according to Robinson. “But he really didn’t have room for me when I got to his place.”
Rather, she claimed, she struggled to find an apartment and spent eight months in a hotel.
According to Robinson, she began looking into “car life” and discovered that there is a group of individuals who decide to live in their cars.
“I felt liberated. After she adapted to living in her car in 2022, she remarked, “I felt like I was on a camping trip.”
Robinson said she didn’t disclose her living circumstances in an attempt to win sympathy. Rather, she hopes that others will be motivated by her tale of perseverance.
“It’s not ‘woe is me,'” stated Robinson. “As a woman and as a person, I am learning about myself and who I am.”
She said that her present life has been a “adventure” and a “unexpected path that I’ve enjoyed quite a bit,” and she intends to keep recording it.
