Sameer MD, a well-known Kannada YouTuber, has recently gained attention when his analysis of the Dharmasthala Soujanya case became popular on social media.
The video received a lot of attention and responses from online users. Sameer MD responded to the criticism by asking why caste and religion were being brought up in the discussion.
“I really don’t know why netizens are making this a caste or religious issue,” stated Sameer MD. He added that some people were searching for him with the goal of hurting him and that his home address and phone number had been released.
“I can’t tell what will happen to me hereafter, so I request content creators to raise this issue,” he said, expressing concern for his safety. Additionally, he called on the Kannada YouTube community to come together and demonstrate their strength as a group.
He added that Sameer MD allegedly took a bribe of Rs. 35 lakh to cover up Soujanya affair on his Dhootha Channel, according to the troll pages backing the case.
“I don’t even have money to pay my editor,” the YouTuber said in a resounding denial of these charges. Why do they keep dragging this out?
The Dharmasthala Soujanya case, which has been up for debate for more than ten years, is linked to the issue surrounding Sameer MD’s video. A request for a new investigation into the horrific 2012 rape and murder of 17-year-old Soujanya, a student at SDM College in Ujire, was turned down by the Karnataka High Court on September 13, 2024.
The court maintained Santhosh Rao’s acquittal as the sole accused, pointing out that the trial court had carefully considered the evidence and that restarting the case would probably yield no new information.
Chandappa Gowda, Soujanya’s father, had requested that the court order the CBI to reexamine the case, but the High Court rejected his request, stating that there was insufficient evidence against the accused. Because there were no eyewitness reports, the investigation, which began on October 9, 2012, was mainly based on circumstantial evidence.
The court raised doubts on the possibility of acquiring fresh evidence following such a long period of time, especially in light of the initial investigation’s flaws.
The court made it clear that Santhosh Rao might take legal action through the proper channels in response to his request for damages for unjust prosecution.
The controversy surrounding Sameer MD’s video has increased the mystery of the Dharmasthala Soujanya case as interest in it continues to grow.
